46 Mr. S. Barrett asked the Minister for Justice the steps, if any, he intends taking to advertise widely the new confidential telephone line available for the public in passing on information to the Garda Síochána to help in the fight against terrorism and crime, and if he will make a statement on the matter.
The Garda Síochána confidential telephone line number (1-800-589-589) is featured in the national and local media. The `Garda Patrol' television programme carries the number every week. The number is further publicised through the Neighbourhood Watch Scheme and Garda publications.
Options for further publicity are being evaluated at present.
