Vol. 419 No. 3

Written Answers. - Teagasc Land Sale.

Seán Ryan

Question:

76 Mr. Ryan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if, in light of the authority given to Teagasc for the disposal of some 53 acres of land at Kinsealy, County Dublin, he will, (a) outline the method used by Teagasc to advertise the proposed sale, giving details of newspaper advertisments, dates and other such details, (b) confirm whether there was any public advertisement in any of the farming/agricultural journals or publications, (c) confirm if there is a reserve price on this land, and (d) outline if he has satisfied himself that the highest tender received is sufficient to ensure an adequate return to the State for this important and probably best maintained land in north County Dublin.

Teagasc has indicated to me that advertising arrangements, up to the date of tender, Thursday 23 April 1992, were effected for the sale of the 53 acres of land at Kinsealy, County Dublin as follows: black and white advertisement on 25 March, 1 April, 8 April, 15 April and 22 April in the Irish Independent— colour advertisement on 25 March in The Irish Times.

In addition a signboard was erected at the entrance to the property and a detailed brochure with aerial photographs was circulated to people on the estate agent's mailing list and to direct inquirers.
No reserve price was placed on the property but on the basis of the information supplied by Teagasc I am satisfied that acceptance of the highest tender will provide the best return to the State at the present time.
