Vol. 419 No. 5

Written Answers. - Thurles (Tipperary) Hospital.

Michael O'Kennedy

Question:

156 Mr. O'Kennedy asked the Minister for Health his plans for the future of the Hospital of the Assumption, Thurles, County Tipperary; if he will allocate funding for the provision of urgently needed new accommodation at the hospital; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Mid-Western Health Board, with the approval of my Department, established a Planning Team to report on facilities needed for the full range of services to the elderly in the north Tipperary region. The planning team, comprised of officials of the Mid-Western Health Board and my Department has been meeting regularly since October 1991 and will present a brief to the Board within the next few weeks. The Board will be submitting the brief to my Department for approval in due course.
