Vol. 419 No. 5

Written Answers. - Sewerage Schemes.

Michael Bell

Question:

169 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the continuing delay in giving approval for the recommended tender for the South Bank interceptor sewer, stage 3 to Drogheda Corporation; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that that will delay further the much needed and long awaited treatment plant; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

A tender recommendation received in my Department on 2 March 1992 is under consideration. Having regard to the existing level of commitments under the water and sanitary services programme, I am not in a position to indicate when a decision may be made.

Jim Higgins

Question:

170 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for the Environment if he is prepared to approve an application by Mayo County Council to have an extension carried out under his Department's small sanitary programme in the current year to provide a sewerage extension to an enterprise (details supplied) in County Mayo.

Having regard to the existing level of commitments under the Water and Sanitary Services Programme, I am not in a position to indicate when there may be a decision on this scheme.
