Vol. 419 No. 5

Written Answers. - Road Grant Allocations.

Jim Higgins

Question:

43 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for the Environment if he will give details of the allocations made to Counties Mayo, Galway, Roscommon, Leitrim, Sligo, Dublin and Kildare in the current year for (1) national primary roads and (2) national secondary roads; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to circulate with the Official Report a tabular statement setting out information on the 1992 road grant allocations to the relevant county councils. I am satisfied that the individual allocations represent a fair and effective distribution of available funds, having regard to maintenance needs and the priority of improvement projects in each of the areas involved, and having regard also to the overall national objectives served by the national road improvement programme.
