148 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Health if he intends to provide the funding necessary in order that a full gynaecological service can be provided at St. Joseph's Hospital, Clonmel, County Tipperary, in view of the present situation where services are provided in only three out of every four weeks, and if he will make a statement on the matter.
I am pleased to inform the Deputy that the gynaecological unit in St. Joseph's Hospital, Clonmel, has been operating on a full-time basis since 1 April 1992.
149 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Health when temporary nurses at St. Joseph's Hospital, Clonmel, County Tipperary will receive their promised increments; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
It is proposed to implement the introduction of incremental credit for temporary nurses with effect from 1 December 1992.
150 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Health when domestic staff and porters positions at St. Joseph's Hospital, Clonmel, County Tipperary will become permanent positions; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
The identification of staffing needs at St. Joseph's Hospital, Clonmel is a matter for the South-Eastern Health Board in the first instance. Proposals for the filling of new and replacement posts are reviewed on a monthly basis by my Department. This review is undertaken having regard to service and personnel criteria in the context of the priority afforded to each post by the agency concerned and with particular regard to the availability of financial resources.
The Board, in its most recent manpower submission to my Department, has sought to fill on a permanent basis two replacement attendant posts which are currently filled on a temporary basis. My Department has given sanction for the filling of these posts on a permanent basis.
