Vol. 420 No. 3

Written Answers. - Cobh (Cork) School.

Paul Bradford

Question:

105 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Education when he first received a request from the school authorities at the girls primary school, Convent of Mercy, Cobh, County Cork, for window replacement and structural repairs; the reason for the delay in having the requested work attended to, and when the matter will be resolved.

The application for grant-aid towards the cost of improvement works from the school authorities of St. Mary's Convent National School, Cobh, County Cork was first received in my Department in July 1990. Because of the scarce capital resources it was considered necessary to phase the work and the first phase was completed in 1991.

The question of grant-aid toward Phase II is now under consideration in the context of the available capital and a decision will be conveyed to the school authorities at the earliest possible date.
