Vol. 420 No. 4

Written Answers. - Radar Detectors.

Ivor Callely

Question:

141 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for the Environment whether it is an offence for a motorist to have a radar detector fitted to his car.

The Road Traffic (Speed Meter Detectors) Regulations, 1991, which came into effect on 1 April 1991, ban the importation, sale and fitting of these devices. The Regulations also ban the driving in a public place of a motor vehicle to which is fitted, or in which is carried, such a device whether the device is in use or not.
