Vol. 420 No. 6

Written Answers. - County Wexford Refurbishment Works.

Brendan Howlin

Question:

102 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Education when a decision will be made in relation to the allocation of a grant to carry out necessary refurbishment works at a school (details supplied) in County Wexford; the extent of the works to be grant-aided and whether they include electrical and heating works; when his Department will respond to correspondence from the school in relation to these works; when notification in relation to the grant application will be issued by his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Grant-in-aid was approved in 1990 on a range of necessary improvement works at the school in County Wexford mentioned by the Deputy. These works are being carried out on a phased basis and grants due in respect of the works completed have been paid.

The school authorities have since requested some additional improvements. The grant-aiding of these works, including some consequential electrical and heating works, are currently being considered by my Department. A formal decision on the grant-in-aid for the eligible additional items sought will be conveyed to the school authorities at an early date.
