110 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the difficulties encountered in obtaining employment by doctors who served in the national Army for over five years; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

111 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Health if he will make a statement on the case of a doctor (details supplied) who has encountered extraordinary difficulties, since leaving the Army, in obtaining employment commensurate with his experience and qualifications.

112 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Health if he will take a personal interest in any cases brought to his attention of apparent discrimination against any doctor who served in the Army; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Ahearn asked the Minister for Health his views on whether it is an extraordinary situation in which some doctors who serve in the national Army appear to have no difficulty in being permitted to enter the general medical service scheme while others are, without explanation, precluded; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

145 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Health if he will confirm that, in the matter of entry into the general medical service scheme by doctors with Army experience, certain exceptions to the existing regulations have been made; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 110, 111, 112, 142, 143, 144 and 145 together.

I am having the case of the person to whom the Deputy refers reviewed in my Department and I will communicate further in the matter with the Deputy as soon as this review is completed.
