Vol. 420 No. 6

Written Answers. - Land Purchase Application.

Alan M. Dukes

Question:

63 Mr. Dukes asked the Minister for Finance when the Commissioners of Public Works will be in a position to make a decision in relation to an application (details supplied) in County Kildare to purchase or lease a portion of land at Corbally, County Kildare; the reason for the delay in a decision being reached in this case, given the fact that the case has been with the Commissioners of Public Works for over ten months; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

It is not possible at this stage to say when a decision in relation to the portion of land in question will be communicated to the applicants.

The Commissions title to the property which includes that portion of land is disputed by a third party and no decision will be communicated to the applicants until that matter is resolved.

The request to purchase or lease the portion of land in question must be considered in the light of the long term possibility of extension of navigation along this branch of the Grand Canal and the associated development of the Corbally Harbour area. The land is not at present considered surplus to State requirements.
