Vol. 420 No. 9

Written Answers. - Speech Therapy.

Jim Mitchell

Question:

131 Mr. J. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the case of a seven year-old boy (details supplied) in County Dublin who is both visually impaired and has a speech problem; if his attention has further been drawn to the fact that his parents have been unable to have him placed in a suitable place with speech therapy because of the additional vision problem; if he will outline the special arrangements which can be made for this young boy; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have arranged for the provision of a grant to St. Joseph's School for Visually Impaired Boys to enable it to engage a speech therapist who will provide services for the child in question and twelve other children already attending the school, who have speech problems in addition to sight impairment.
