174 Mr. Spring asked the Minister for the Environment if he will outline the plans, if any, he has for the future of the mountain search and rescue service; and if he will further outline the role the Irish Mountain Rescue Association and the Civil Defence will play in these plans.
I have no proposals to alter the existing arrangements whereby a National Co-ordinating Committee for Mountain and Cave Rescue, under the Chairmanship of my Department, monitors the provision and development of mountain and cave rescue facilities and provides liaison between the Irish Mountain Rescue Association, the Irish Cave Rescue Organisation, Government Departments, including the Department of Defence, and other public bodies.
