Vol. 420 No. 9

Written Answers. - Travel Tax Yield.

Richard Bruton

Question:

71 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Finance if he will outline the amount the £5 levy on persons travelling from Ireland raises in a full year; and whether these funds are earmarked for any particular purpose.

The duty on foreign travel raised £7.8 million in 1991. The amount raised by this duty, in common with all other taxation revenue accruing to the Exchequer, is not ear-marked for any purpose.
