Vol. 421 No. 4

Written Answers. - County Wexford Garda Allocation.

Séamus Cullimore

Question:

126 Mr. Cullimore asked the Minister for Justice if he will allocate extra Gardaí to the Courtown Harbour/Gorey area in County Wexford for the summer months in view of the increase in the population because of holidaymakers.

The Garda authorities are responsible for the allocation of Garda manpower and resources. They inform me that the strength at Courtown Harbour Garda station has recently been increased by one Sergeant for the summer months. In addition, extra mobile patrols are being provided in the area from Gorey station and the Traffic Corps. Additional manpower will also be provided on Bank Holidays and other busy weekends, with special emphasis being placed on late night patrols.
