127 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Justice the steps he is taking to confirm recent media reports that MI5 has agents operating in the Republic of Ireland and have reactivated many of their activities in recent times because of events in Northern Ireland and in Great Britain.

It is not the practice to comment on matters of a security nature. However, I can confirm that the reports in question were not based on any statement issued by the Garda authorities.
