Vol. 421 No. 4

Written Answers. - County Galway School Extension Funding.

Paul Connaughton

Question:

151 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Education if he will outline the position regarding the application by Kilnadeema national school, Loughrea, County Galway for funding to extend and modernise the school; if he has accepted the plans which have been presented; and if he will outline (a) the overall cost of the project (b) the size of the local contribution and (c) when the funding will be made available for the project.

Following discussions with the school authorities and parents' representatives, the Department's architects have commenced planning for the agreed plan for the refurbishment and extension at this school. It is not possible to say, at this stage, what the overall cost of the project will be or, consequently, to estimate the size of the local contribution. The question of funding will be considered in the light of available resources and the number of other projects on hands.
