Vol. 421 No. 4

Written Answers. - Whooping Cough Vaccine.

Eric J. Byrne

Question:

201 Mr. Byrne asked the Minister for Health if he will release the batch number of whooping cough vaccine for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12; and if he will also release the batch numbers for all of those who were examined by the expert panel during this dispute which has led to the Best judgment.

An expert medical group was established in 1977 to examine cases of possible adverse reactions to the pertussis vaccination.

In the course of their deliberations the group collected information on cases brought to their attention. However, I regard the information gathered by the group as confidential to the group and access to medical records is a matter between the clinician and the patient.
