Vol. 421 No. 4

Written Answers. - Combat Poverty Agency Funding.

Séamus Cullimore

Question:

311 Mr. Cullimore asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he has any plans to upgrade the resources of the Combat Poverty Agency to enable it to extend its present services.

The allocation to the Combat Poverty Agency in 1992 is £1.3 million, as compared with an allocation of £1.1 million in 1990 and 1991. These additional resources were made available to enable the agency to undertake further support work with the community development projects funded by my Department and to initiate new pilot projects in the areas of leadership development, community arts and a women's groups support programme.

The financial allocation to the agency will continue to be kept under review having regard to the overall budgetary position.
