Vol. 421 No. 4

Written Answers. - Works Schemes Funding.

Emmet Stagg

Question:

38 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for the Environment if he will outline the allocations made to each housing authority by his Department in 1992 to cover the cost of home improvement works schemes recently introduced in the Plan for Social Housing; if he has determined the need in this area; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The scheme of improvement work in lieu of local authority housing represents part of the response of authorities to social housing needs and it is a matter for each authority to assess the potential of the scheme in their area. A separate capital allocation is not made for the improvements scheme but it forms part of the capital allocation to each authority for their housing construction programme. Details of the capital allocation notified to each authority for their 1992 programme were given in the reply to Questions Nos. 127 and 128 of 5 March, 1992.
