Vol. 421 No. 4

Written Answers. - Group Water Schemes.

Michael Finucane

Question:

59 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for the Environment if he will outline (a) the total number of group water schemes awaiting his approval (b) the locations and the number of applicants for each location and (c) when he anticipates that finance will be provided to ensure these group water schemes proceed; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Some 70 group water schemes are at an advanced stage of planning and a larger number are at earlier stages of processing. Information regarding locations and numbers of applicants is being compiled by my Department and will be forwarded to the Deputy as soon as possible.

Having regard to the existing level of commitments under the group water schemes programme, I am not in a position to indicate when these schemes may be approved.
