Vol. 421 No. 4

Written Answers. - Vehicular Access to Dublin Port.

Proinsias De Rossa

Question:

62 Proinsias De Rossa asked the Minister for the Environment if he will outline his Department's views on the proposal made by the Dublin Port and Docks Board for a designated route for trucks travelling to and from Dublin Port; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

This proposal, involving the implementation of traffic management measures on existing roads, would be primarily a matter for consideration by the local authority concerned, Dublin Corporation, acting in conjunction with the Garda Síochána. Any question of amending existing traffic and parking by-laws so as to allow trucks to use bus lanes would be a matter for consideration by the Garda Commissioner in the first instance.

All possible options for improved access to Dublin Port are being looked at as part of the Dublin Transportation Initiative.
