Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given to the Ceann Comhairle under Standing Order 20 (3) (a) and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Kelly — the proposal by Cork County Council to sell a portion of land at Gurteenard, Kanturk, County Cork, which cost approximately £24,000, for the nominal sum of £1,000 to a private individual; and if he will investigate the position; (2) Deputy Gregory — the need to have a remedial teacher sanctioned for St. Paul's primary school, North Brunswick Street, Dublin now the only Dublin inner city school serving a severely disadvantaged area without a remedial teacher; (3) Deputy Ahearn — the critical situation in the Christian Brothers High School, Clonmel, County Tipperary due to overcrowding, causing 87 students to be refused entry this year, and where lack of facilities is resulting in severe hardship to students and teachers and enormous stress and strain on parents whose children are refused a school place; (4) Deputy Taylor — the availability of natural gas to Old Bawn Road, Tallaght, Dublin 24; (5) Deputy Deasy — the imminent loss of £30 million to Irish farmers because of the proposed reduction in the ewe premium; (6) Deputy Creed — the steps the Minister for Agriculture and Food intends to take to compensate Irish sheep farmers as a result of the 20 per cent reduction in ewe premiums for 1992; (7) Deputy De Rossa — the need for a youth encounter project in Ballymun to cater for children who have dropped out of school; (8) Deputy Lee — the cancellation of all out-patient clinics and the reduction in bed numbers by 10 per cent for one month, in Temple Street Children's Hospital; (9) Deputy McCartan — the case of a person (details supplied) held in custody in India without trial and the need for the Minister for Foreign Affairs to seek his immediate release in the interests of human rights; (10) Deputies McCormack and Sheehan — the crisis farmers are facing due to the 27 per cent reduction in the ewe premium grant; (11) Deputy O'Toole — whether the Minister for Agriculture and Food will make a statement regarding the sheep meat management committee's methodology for the 1992 ewe premium.

The Ceann Comhairle has selected for discussion the matters raised by Deputies T. Ahearn, De Rossa and Deasy.
