Vol. 421 No. 6

Written Answers. - Job Sharing Scheme Delay.

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

61 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Education if he will outline the reasons for the delay which has prevented finalisation of a job sharing scheme for post-primary teachers; when it is expected that meetings can be held with management organisations and unions to seek agreement on the introduction of a pilot job sharing scheme; when it is anticipated that a pilot job sharing scheme can commence in post-primary schools; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The introduction of a job-sharing scheme on a pilot basis, for post-primary teachers is currently being considered by my Department. It is expected that a draft scheme will soon be put to managerial bodies and unions for their observations.

It is not possible to say when the pilot scheme will be introduced as this will depend on the outcome of discussions which will be held with management and unions following receipt of their observations on the draft scheme.
