Vol. 421 No. 6

Written Answers. - Meath Teaching Appointments.

John Bruton

Question:

90 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Education if any post-primary schools in County Meath will have vice-principals and guidance teachers appointed ex-quota from amongst the 87 such posts sanctioned for the 1992-1993 academic year.

My Department have sanctioned three ex-quota posts of vice-principal for the 1992/93 school year in post-primary schools in County Meath. A further seven schools will benefit from the allocation of an ex-quota post in the 1993-94 and 1994-95 school years.

No post-primary school in County Meath qualified for an ex-quota guidance provision arising from the terms of the Programme for Economic and Social Progress for the school year 1992-93. The equivalent of one additional such post will arise over the next two years.

I would like to point out that there are 17 post-primary schools in County Meath and my Department has sanctioned a total of ten ex-quota guidance posts in such schools.
