Vol. 421 No. 6

Written Answers. - County Tipperary School Facilities Funding.

Michael Ferris

Question:

95 Mr. Ferris asked the Minister for Education if he will approve the request from the high school in Clonmel, County Tipperary for improved facilities and assistance towards local funding for the physical education building provided at the high school; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

My Department are at present examining the school authorities applications for additional accommodation and renovations at the CBS High School, Clonmel. A decision on the matter will be conveyed to the school management in the near future in relation to the proposed provision of additional accommodation at the school.

As the Deputy will be aware, there are many applications before my Department for the provision of new schools and extensions to provide much needed accommodation. Therefore, all capital resources available at present are committed to addressing this need.
In the circumstances, I am not in a position to provide financial assistance towards the physical education hall at the school.
