Vol. 421 No. 6

Written Answers. - Remedial Teacher Appointment.

Michael Ferris

Question:

96 Mr. Ferris asked the Minister for Education if he will make provision for a remedial teacher to be appointed to the school in Ballygarry, County Tipperary; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

As the Deputy will be aware, 80 additional remedial posts serving over 240 schools were allocated in the current school year as part of a national distribution under the Programme for Economic and Social Progress.

These appointments were made following the collection of data and information by my Department's Primary Inspectorate from schools. The posts were then allocated on the basis of priority of need, as indicated by the information collected.

The question of further remedial teacher appointments will be kept under review.
