104 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education if he will outline the findings to date of the three year pilot project for the establishment of a psychological assessment in primary schools and if he will make a statement on the matter.
The Pilot Project for the Establishment of a Psychological Service for Primary Schools will be in place two years by September of this year and is now fully operational in both Tallaght/Clondalkin and South Tipperary. It has to date made significant progress in meeting its defined objectives.
However, as the Deputy is aware, an independent evaluator has been appointed to report to the Department on the project. The evaluators final report will not be ready until the project is completed at the end of the three years and I would not wish to pre-empt this report by making a statement at this time.
