113 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Education if his attention has been drawn to the fact that no textbook exists for the leaving certificate ordinary alternative mathematics; and if the syllabus will be implemented for at least the next three years so that publishers will produce such a text.
The production of text books is a matter for commercial publishers.
Revised syllabuses in Higher and Ordinary Leaving Certificate Mathematics will be introduced in post-primary schools in September, 1992. I would expect textbooks on these new syllabuses to take account of the needs of students folowing the Ordinary Alternative Mathematics course which was introduced as an interim arrangement in 1990. This course will be examined again in 1993 and in 1994.
