Vol. 421 No. 6

Written Answers. - Child Abuse Prevention Programme.

John V. Farrelly

Question:

120 Mr. Farrelly asked the Minister for Health if he intends to approve the extension of the programme for child abuse prevention which is currently being taught in the Eastern Health Board region to areas in the North Eastern Health Board regions and the other regions throughout the country; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am pleased to inform the Deputy that arrangements are in hand for the extension of the child abuse prevention programme known as the "Stay Safe Programme" to primary schools around the country. The implementation of the programme on a nationwide basis is being actively supported by my Department, the Department of Education and the health boards concerned, including the North Eastern Health Board.
