24 Mr. McCormack asked the Minister for the Marine whether a special grant can be made available to alleviate the problem of coastal erosion on the Aran Islands, particularly on Inis Iarr where the island airport strip is in grave danger because of coastal erosion.
Grant assistance for coast protection works is allocated by my Department for approved projects submitted by local authorities.
My Department have written to all maritime local authorities, seeking their proposals for works to deal with coastal erosion in their areas. Galway County Council have not yet submitted their proposals for coast protection works.
