Vol. 422 No. 1

Written Answers. - Motor Offences.

Ivor Callely

Question:

59 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Justice if he will request the Garda authorities to compile statistical information on persons convicted of motor offences, having particular regard to the age of the offenders for motor insurance offences; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have asked the Garda authorities to look into this suggestion. They inform me that the collection of statistical information on the basis suggested would present practical difficulties for them and they have no proposals to do so. While it is therefore not possible to be precise about the matter, I am advised by the Garda authorities that motor insurance offenders appear to come from all age groups and walks of life.
