Vol. 422 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Paul Bradford

Question:

84 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will review his decision to refuse permission to a person (details supplied) in County Cork to apply for the 1992 special beef premium payment.

This person has been deemed ineligible for payment of grants under the 1991 Special Beef Premium Scheme because the Cattle Identity Cards of two of the animals on which he applied for premium indicated that grants had already been paid on these animals. The EC Regulations governing the Scheme provided for exclusion of the applicant from the Scheme for 12 months in cases such as this. Since I have no discretion in the matter I regret that the person named cannot apply for 1992 Special Beef Premium.

Question:

85 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a person (details supplied) in County Cork has not yet received his 1991 beef premium; if he will outline the amount due to him in respect of this; and when payment will issue.

This person's application for grants under the 1991 Special Beef Premium is being processed at present and if found in order payment will be made shortly. The delay in making this payment arose due to a computer punching error which has now been rectified.

Michael Finucane

Question:

86 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a cow suckler premium will be approved by the Limerick office of his Department to be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick.

This person's application for grants under the 1991 Suckler Cow Premium Scheme has now been approved by the Limerick Office of my Department and payment will be made shortly.

Question:

87 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a disadvantaged areas headage grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick.

Payment due to this applicant under the 1991 Cattle and Equines Headage Scheme is being processed at present and will be made shortly. He has already been paid his grant under the 1991 Special Beef Premium Scheme. He did not apply for grants under the 1991 Suckler Cow Premium Scheme.

Question:

88 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will outline the grants which will be available to farmers who have work undertaken in order to implement the proposed new dairy hygiene regulations; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

My Department is undertaking a survey of dairy farms to estimate the cost of the on-farm investment which will be required to enable farmers to comply with the structural standards for dairies and milking premises prescribed in the new EC dairy hygiene regulations. As stated in the Programme for Economic and Social Progress, the question of lodging a submission for Community aid will be considered in consultation with the farming organisations and after the extent of the necessary investment has been determined.
