Vol. 422 No. 4

Written Answers. - Headage Payments.

Andrew Boylan

Question:

221 Mr. Boylan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason headage payments were not made to a person (details supplied) in County Cavan; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The person named has been paid his 1991 cattle and equines headage and EC suckler cow premium schemes grants already.

He applied for 1991 special beef premium scheme grants on 15 animals. On 25 October 1991 he presented the cattle identity cards for 11 of these and he was asked to forward the other 4 cards. However, on 26 November 1991 he contacted the local livestock office and stated that he had noted that the other animals he applied for were in fact females. Under EC regulations he is ineligible for grants under the 1991 scheme and must be debarred from the scheme for 12 months from 26 November 1991.

Question:

222 Mr. Boylan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason full headage payments were not made to a person (details supplied) in County Cavan as this person claims he applied for headage grants for 25 cows and 25 heifers; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The person named listed 26 dairy cows and 6 calves on his 1991 cattle and equines headage scheme application. He has already been paid on 10 dairy cows which is the maximum number on which any herdowner can be paid and on the 6 calves. He has also been paid his 1991 special beef premium scheme grant.
