Vol. 422 No. 4

Written Answers. - Four Courts Law Library.

Alan Shatter

Question:

31 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Finance if he will make available to the Dáil Éireann Library the two agreements entered into by the General Council of the Bar of Ireland with the Commissioners of Public Works, dated 31 July 1968 and 1 April 1987 respectively relating to the use of the Law Library in the Four Courts; and if he will outline the general terms of the current agreement.

The principal terms of the agreements under which the Law Library is used by the General Council of the Bar of Ireland were set out in my reply to Question No. 82 on 10 June last. It is contrary to established practice to divulge details of agreements entered into with other parties, without the consent of the parties concerned. I do not propose to depart from the practice in this instance.
