Vol. 422 No. 4

Written Answers. - State Pensions.

Toddy O'Sullivan

Question:

51 Mr. T. O'Sullivan asked the Minister for Finance if he will outline (a) the reason persons (details supplied) have State pensions and (b) the basis upon which the amount, as shown in the 1991 Finance Accounts, has been calculated; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The pensions referred to are paid in accordance with the provisions of the Courts (Preservation of Superannuation) (Judiciary) Regulations, 1991, made under section 5 of the Courts (Supplemental Provisions) (Amendment) Act, 1991.

The amounts in question represent the lump sums, pensions and arrears of pension due to the persons in question under those regulations with effect from the dates 4 October 1984 and 23 July 1988, respectively, on which they attained retiring age.
