Vol. 422 No. 4

Written Answers. - National Lottery Funds.

Austin Deasy

Question:

55 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Finance if he will give details of the net profit from national lottery funds in 1991; and if he will outline the projected profit in 1992 and the way in which these funds will be dispersed.

The National Lottery Fund received a surplus of £77,300,541 in 1991 from the operation of the national lottery. I would refer the Deputy to the 1991 Annual Report of An Post National Lottery Company, copies of which are available in the Library, for further details.

With regard to 1992, it is not the practice to provide projections of the surplus likely to arise from the commercial operations of the National Lottery Company. However expenditure of approximately £105 million has been allocated to national lottery funded spending programmes for 1992 which will be financed from the surplus arising in 1992 and other moneys such as unspent lottery-funded allocations carried forward from previous years. Details of the departmental allocations of these funds for 1992 are set out in the National Lottery Annex to the Revised Estimates for Public Services 1992, copies of which are also available in the Library.
