Question:

64 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Finance if he will designate the old Penal Church in Caherciveen a national monument and prevent its demolition by Kerry County Council for car park purposes.

The Commissioners of Public Works have recommended to Kerry County Council that the Penal Church in Caherciveen should be preserved. Arrangements have been made to enter the Penal Church in the Register of Historic Monuments, as provided for under the National Monuments Acts.
