Vol. 422 No. 5

Written Answers. - County Monaghan Sewerage Schemes.

William Cotter

Question:

132 Mr. Cotter asked the Minister for the Environment if he will outline the current status of the application by Carrickmacross Urban Distict Council for a sewerage improvement scheme to include an additional oxidation ditch and settling tanks; if his attention has been drawn to the urgency of the application; when the council can expect permission to go ahead with arrangements for tender; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Contract documents for this scheme are under examination in my Department. Having regard to the existing level of commitments under the water and sanitary services programme, I am not in a position to indicate when there may be a decision on this scheme.

Question:

134 Mr. Cotter asked the Minister for the Environment if he will outline the current status of the application for a sewerage scheme at Rockcorry, County Monaghan and the source of funding for the project.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 133 and 134 together.

Tenders for the Newbliss and Rockcorry sewerage schemes are under examination in my Department. While both schemes would be funded by the Exchequer, it is intended to seek assistance for them under the Interreg Programme.
