Vol. 422 No. 5

Written Answers. - Heinz Company Development Proposal.

Andrew Boylan

Question:

36 Mr. Boylan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if his attention has been drawn to the Heinz company proposal to develop in the Killeshandra region; if he supports this proposal; and if he will outline the measures he has taken to ensure it goes ahead as Killeshandra needs an injection of employment and this project would be essential.

I am not aware of any proposal by the Heinz Company to invest in the Killeshandra region. However, as I announced on 13 May, the Company, through its subsidiary, Custom Foods, is to establish a chilled and frozen food products plant at Dundalk, Co. Louth. Subject to the grant of planning approval that plant is expected to be completed and in production by early 1993.
