Question:

79 Mr. Noonan (Limerick East) asked the Minister for Finance if he will outline (1) the estimated cost of (a) mortgage interest relief and (b) health insurance relief in 1992, (2) the actual cost in 1991 and (3) the estimated yield to the Exchequer in both years if the reliefs only applied at the standard rate.

The relevant available statistics are in terms of the income tax years 1991-92 and 1992-93. The following table sets out the information requested in so far as it is available.

The estimates are provisional and are likely to be revised.
