Question:

95 Dr. G. FitzGerald asked the Minister for Justice if his attention has been drawn to the fact that high-speed traffic and trucks are using Bath Street, Dublin 4, despite the fact that there are signs prohibiting the entry of such trucks to this street which is approximately 18 feet in width.

Question:

96 Dr. G. FitzGerald asked the Minister for Justice whether charges have been brought in the case of the illegal entry of a large truck (details supplied) into Bath Street, Dublin 4 on the night of 2 July 1992.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 94, 95 and 96.

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the local gardaí have received a number of complaints from residents in the area regarding high speed traffic and trucks and that the matter is receiving ongoing attention with a view to dealing with the source of the complaint. In so far as the entry of a truck into Bath Street on 2 July 1992, is concerned, I am informed that the driver of the vehicle, who had an address outside the State, was cautioned by gardaí. The driver explained that due to bad weather conditions and his unfamiliarity with the area he did not see the three ton limit sign.
Details of traffic convictions are not available on a street by street basis.
