Dermot Ahern

Question:

226 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for Education when he will give the goahead to the proposed extension for the Stabannon national school, County Louth; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Working drawings are being prepared for the extension to this school. When plans have been completed the question of advancing the project to the next stage will be considered in the light of the capital resources available and my Department's ongoing commitments and priorities.

227 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for Education when he will give the goahead to the proposed extension for the Dulangy national school, County Louth; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Tender documents are being prepared for the extension to this school. When they have been completed, the question of inviting tenders will be considered in the light of the capital resources available and my Department's on-going commitments and priorities.

Sketch plans are being prepared for the proposed extension to Cartown national school. When the plans have been completed, the question of advancing the project to the next stage will be considered in the light of the capital resources available and my Department's on-going commitments and priorities.

229 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for Education when he will give the goahead to the proposed extension for the Ballapousta national school. County Louth, Roll Number 1554; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have approved the provision of an extension to Ballapousta national school, Drakestown, County Louth. The preparation of working drawings for the extension and for the conversion works to the existing building are underway and will be completed as soon as possible.

230 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for Education if his attention has been drawn to the extreme disquiet in the Dunleer area regarding the fact that Scoil Uí Mhuirí is grossly overcrowded and that the proposed extension is badly required; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The extension of the school has been approved and architectural planning is proceeding. The Department has recently approved the provision of a prefabricated classroom at the school.

231 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for Education when he will allow the building of Scoil Chríost Rí, Dún Dealgan, Contae an Lú to proceed; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
