Vol. 423 No. 1

Written Answers. - National Drug Treatment Centre.

Bernard Allen

Question:

304 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health if if he will make a statement on the number of Ecstasy abuses which are been seen each week by the National Drug Treatment Centre at Trinity Court and on the increased number being treated.

The National Drug Treatment Centre treated its first ecstasy user in the summer of 1991. At present the centre is treating three to four Ecstasy users each week.

The use of Ecstasy is a relatively recent phenomenon and the situation is being monitored closely by my Department.
