Vol. 423 No. 1

Written Answers. - County Limerick Housing Estate.

Michael Noonan

Question:

353 Mr. Noonan (Limerick East) asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to the structural problems in a housing estate (details supplied) in County Limerick; if his attention has further been drawn to the fact that possible arrangements to help the residents to remedy the problem were being seriously considered by his predecessor in office; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

As these houses are in private ownership, responsibility for their upkeep rests with the individual owners. Following recent discussions between officials of my Department and Limerick Corporation, I understand that a meeting is being arranged between the corporation and the residents of the estate with a view to investigating the possibility of having the necessary works carried out availing of house improvement loans provided by the corporation.
