Vol. 423 No. 1

Written Answers. - Kildare Road Project.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

364 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment when the already partially completed road realignment on the N4 at Laraghbryan West, Maynooth, County Kildare is likely to be finalised, having regard to the fact that these works are now in progress for almost ten years; the extent to which funds have already been expended on the project; the balance required to complete the works; when such implementation is likely; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Work on the existing N4 near Laraghbryan West, Maynooth, was completed in 1986 at a cost of £0.714 million. In view of the substantial investment, estimated at some £60 million, in the Kilcock/Maynooth/Leixlip bypass now under construction, it is not proposed to provide any further funds for the realignment of the existing N4 at Laraghbryan West as the bypass will replace this.
