Vol. 423 No. 1

Written Answers. - Social Employment Scheme.

Donal Carey

Question:

447 Mr. Carey asked the Minister for Labour if he has examined the guidelines for Social Employment Schemes; and whether these guidelines will be reviewed in association with the discussions on the Programme for Economic and Social Progress.

The operation of the Social Employment Scheme (SES) is kept under continuing review. In the context of the Programme for Economic and Social Progress (PESP) the Community Employment Development Programme, which is a development of the SES, has been introduced in the 12 designated areas established under the Programme for Economic and Social Progress. The Programme, which will operate on a pilot basis, will provide a training element for participants.
