Vol. 423 No. 1

Written Answers. - Meetings with Waterford Company.

Peter Barry

Question:

59 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the number of meetings he has had with (1) the management and (2) the workers at a company (details supplied) in County Waterford; when these meetings took place; and if he will outline the result of these meetings.

I met with senior management of the company twice in 1990; twice in 1991 and three times to date in 1992. The latest meeting took place in August. In addition, I met with representatives of the ATGWU in May of this year. The meetings were designed to up-date me on the developing situation in the company and the ongoing efforts being made to bring the firm back to a competitive position and thus ensure its future long term viability.
