Question:140 Mr. Noonan (Limerick East) asked the Minister for Finance the progress that has been made in preparing the design for the drainage of the Mulcair; and when he expects work on the scheme to commence.

All field studies in connection with design and preparation of a cost benefit analysis and an environmental impact assessment have been completed and it is hoped to have a final report available by the end of the year. Any decision on whether to proceed with the proposed scheme must await consideration of the findings of this report, when it becomes available.
