Vol. 423 No. 1

Written Answers. - Culliton Committee Recommendations.

Ruairí Quinn

Question:

147 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Energy if, in respect of the recommendations of the Culliton Committee he will outline, for each recommendation concerning his Department, the action, if any, which he has already taken or proposes to take, the changes involved and the cost of such action; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Government have taken on board the broad thrust of the Culliton recommendations and have established a task force to implement those recommendations and any further measures considered as appropriate by the task force. In effect the role of the task force is to develop with the Government Departments involved an action plan for the different policy areas. A first report of the task force has been approved by the Government but does not include energy policy.

Recommendations for an action plan in areas within my area of responsibility will be included in a second report of the task force which is expected to be considered by the Government shortly. It is not possible therefore, at this stage, to supply the information requested by the Deputy.
